Imprisoned since January in the Conciergerie in Paris, Marie-Antoinette owed the presence of the dressing table to the kindness of a jailer, who sought to make her stay more comfortable.  It is now on view at the Carnavalet museum in Paris and has inspired this unique Grange piece.
